PKS™ Requirements

PKS™ is deployed as a three-tier application based on:

  • Database: an Oracle database back end
  • Web server: a middle-tier XML API that runs Java servlets and Java server pages (Apache-Jakarta's Tomcat Server 5.5 or 6.0, included with PKS, or a WebLogic server version 9.2)
  • Clients: a Web browser interface and a number of possible Windows® desktop applications that communicate via XML through the PKS middle-tier to the database

The database, Web server, and clients should be installed on physically separate machines. PKS relies on the following hardware and software components.

Required Hardware and Software for the Database Server

  • Pentium® III 1GHz processor or better
  • 1,024MB Memory or more
  • 20 GB or larger Hard Drive (for Oracle instance)
  • Oracle Enterprise or Standard Edition 10g or 11g (US versions)
  • Any Operating System that supports the Oracle requirements is acceptable.

Required Hardware and Software for the Web Server

  • Pentium® III 1GHz processor or better
  • 512MB internal memory or more
  • Minimum 10 GB hard drive
  • Any Operating System that supports the Web Server requirements is acceptable.
  • Microsoft® Internet Explorer 7 or 8 (used to configure the Web server; can be on the middle tier machine or on a remote machine).
