Using the PKS Validation Suite™

Follow these steps to perform validation using the PKS 3.0 Validation Suite.  The process should be the same for the newer PKS Validation Suite v1.1.  This page will be updated shortly.

1. Run the first manual test, Create_User_Role_Admin-DBA, to set up user accounts needed by the subsequent tests. Follow the instructions in the document CREATE_USER_ROLE_ADMIN-DBA.DOC, located in the directory called MANUAL TESTS inside the PKS 3.0 Validation Suite installation directory.

2. Run all applicable automated tests.

3. If you need to pause or cancel an automated test run, follow directions provided in the documentation.

4. Create a report for the automated test run.

5. Run the remainder of the manual tests. Follow the instructions in each manual test document, located in the directory called MANUAL TESTS inside the PKS 3.0 Validation Suite installation directory.

To run one or more automated validation tests using the PKS 3.0 Validation Suite:

1. Ensure that the PKS 3.0 Validation Suite and all appropriate client applications to be tested are installed on the same machine.

2. Launch (and exit) WinNonlin independently at least once before attempting to run the PKS 3.0 Validation Suite for the first time.

3. Ensure that all prerequisite conditions (listed in the manual) have been met, and that the manual test case Create_User_Role_Admin-DBA has been run.

4. Launch the PKS 3.0 Validation Suite: in the Windows Start menu, choose Programs>Pharsight>PKS 3.0 Validation Suite>PKS Validation Suite.

5.The PKS 3.0 Validation Suite application opens, displaying the Start tab.

6.Use the Browse (“...”) button to select or create the directory that will contain validation output. This directory must be empty.

7.Open the Test Sets tab and check the tests to run.

If you are testing PKS Reporter, be sure to select the appropriate test for the the machine you are using: PKS Reporter 1.2.x if the machine is running Windows 2000 or PKS Reporter 1.2.x for XP if it is running Windows XP.

8.Open the PKS tab to configure a connection to the Pharsight Knowledgebase Server:

9.Open the Additional Paths tab.

10. If you are not running any PKS Client tests, check Not validating PKS Client. Else, make sure this check box is un-checked.

11. If you checked any PKS Client 3.0 item on the Test Sets tab, confirm that the PKS 3.0 Validation Suite has located the correct path to the PKS Client executable (PKSC LIENT . EXE ). Use the Browse (“...”) button to locate it if needed.

12. If you checked PKS Client 3.0 - SAS on the Test Sets tab, confirm that the PKS 3.0 Validation Suite has located the correct path to the SAS executable ( SAS . EXE ). Use the Browse (“...”) button to locate it if needed.

13. If you did not check PKS Client 3.0 - SAS on the Test Sets tab, check SAS not required for validation.

14.Run the validation: Click the Start Validation button.
